Cosmetic Dentistry » Teeth Whitening
- Teeth are stained by the foods and drinks we consume. Smoking further stains teeth and the natural bright, white shade becomes darkened. Teeth whitening is a successful and simple method of lightening the colour of your teeth.
The degree of whiteness achieved will vary from person to person as everyone’s teeth are different. Tooth structure can be porous or dense. Staining can be superficial or deep inside the dentine. Stains may be grey or brown. These factors can all affect the rate of whitening and treatment time.
Impressions are taken to make a set of customised whitening trays.
Gel is dispensed into the trays and these are then worn over your teeth during the whitening process. Wear time ranges from 45 minutes to 1 hour. (Worn in the evenings while watching TV is very popular). The procedure is then repeated over 7 – 14 days, or as recommended by Dr. Stander.
As you will now have your customised whitening trays, you will be able to purchase further gels from Dr. Stander in the future, as and when necessary to top up the whitening process.
